San Roque Old World Meets New
Our goals were clear- to replace a tired old front lawn with Mediterranean centric garden beds for our client's passion for gardening & her love of all things French. I also wanted to provide her with the soft buffer of a fine leafed pittosporum hedge for much of the foot traffic on the street. A large jacaranda tree exists at the base of the driveway preventing a continuous hedge, so we added some old world charm by building a rustic corner wall, a secret garden viewing bench and raised flower beds. Smooth dark gray pavers composed in a dynamic layout of varying width paths, plant bed heights and rectilinear shapes mixed with a couple side pea gravel paths updated the overall landscape design for a clean updated look. Plant beds are filled with French-inspired country themes of roses, sages, lavenders, thyme, germander, citrus, and other herbs & perennials. The shady bed against the front of the house highlights the owner's beloved hydrangeas of which she had a story for each one acquired, as well as lilacs, and japanese anemones. Flowering vines cover a farm-style wood framed hog wire fence that lines the length of the driveway, providing additional charm & the screening of cars.
