Our clients, seasoned world travelers, were intent on creating the most usable and beautiful backyard component to the indoor-outdoor living concept. The challenges were straightforward. Two-thirds of the backyard was a fruit tree orchard, which they wanted to enhance but keep intact, limiting the entertainment and recreational spaces to everything on their wishlist. Secondly, two mature magnolia trees define the space symmetrically. Billy Goodnick was hired to design a flagstone patio off the living room bifold glass doors, a dining deck, a jacuzzi space, a fire pit with Adirondacks, and a garden with meandering flagstone paths leading to the orchard below. An additional lawn area on the plan was eventually sacrificed to enlarge the deck and dining for 8-10.

Following a complete remodel to open up but retain the original footprint of the home, the exterior finishes were refreshed with a black & white theme. A splash of primary red furnishings was brought in to add an exciting cohesiveness throughout.

The clients now come home from their travels to relax and enjoy all the new features of their beautifully integrated indoor/outdoor living spaces.
