Third Time's a Montecito Charmer

Our client brought us back, this time to transform the expansive front yard. Previously, we had built a bocce court, flagstone patio, pathways, and a completely reimagined landscape. Before that, a tranquil side yard for an intimate garden, flagstone paths and sitting area with water feature for quiet reflection.
For our third act, I focused on a palette of the clients' favorite colors (all shades of pink, purple and blue) set against shades of green foliage, but used a diverse range of plants. Upon entering the large circle drive, iceberg roses, several colors of sages, catmint and lavender are prominent. A rocky meadow area, as well as under the oak canopies, feature California natives. Along one side of the house, wrapping along a curved path we enhanced their beloved camellias & hydrangeas with Bergenia crassifolia, Hachonechloa macro, Abelia 'Kaleidescope', and 'Bloodgood' Japanese maples. We went with a playful mix of only green plant textures on the opposite side of the house using mostly dwarf Pittosporum 'Golf Ball', Lomandra 'Breeze', and Falkia repens groundcover. Among the many other plantings, we also planted a couple species that happily take up large spaces and are almost always flowering Anisodontea 'Tara's Pink' as well as Pelargonium sidoides 'Burgundy'.
