When a client approaches me who has enthusiasm & expertise for rare and exotic plants, it strikes my immediate engagement thru a shared horticultural passion. Another spark was to design a very unique & custom outdoor kitchen to support their shared passion for cutting edge gourmet dinner parties in an outdoor setting of recycled modernism. The kitchen and cooktop are poured concrete designed for an extra large green egg smoker and copper farm-style sink. The clients shopped for handsome, aged wood & steel furniture for their dining table & chairs, as well as seating around the firepit. This backyard project added an edible garden, exotic citrus trees, and hangers for extremely rare orchids. Along with their new modern outdoor kitchen, other key highlights include a new flagstone patio lounge area and pathway, Oak woodland-appropriate shade garden of heucheras, hellebores, and native ferns, and an exciting blue cedar berm section. Each garden bed is thoughtfully designed to experience the wonder.
