New cottage was built on a tight lot in Green Lake, one of Seattle's favorite streetcar-era neighborhoods. It is only 940 square feet. Plan is informal, and like a vacation house with living, dining and kitchen areas combined. Entry is from a covered porch with mudroom. There is one bedroom and bath with alcoves in the hall for a study and laundry. This reinvented traditional type with simple floor plan and tall ceilings was cost effective to build. Classical details for porch and pediment are modest, yet provide the cottage a sense of dignity. Builder was Adams Residential, Seattle.
