Mid Century Modern addition

We added a new living room, entry and covered terrace to this Modern 1949 house designed by architect Robert Gordon. Sympathetic addition expands the house to the south, and is anchored by a mature sycamore tree. New entry is between rooms, improving privacy and circulation. Construction is not seamless with original house. There is a four foot wide link that connects the two. Walls of addition are finished in rough-sawn fir plywood, not board and batt to match original. Inside walls are also rough-sawn plywood, and the new tile floor unifies open plan.
