Dallas residential architect Michael Lyons was commissioned by this University Park family to create a seamless addition to their home. Creating a porte cochere softened the home’s lengthy façade and allowed access for friends directly to the backyard entertaining area and pool. The home addition affords a garage space and entry to an upstairs guest bedroom, a game/media room, a full second kitchen, laundry, pool bath and backyard veranda. The detailing and massing of the remodel remain true to the original house. In back, the original structure and addition are connected via a stone patio. The addition of a backyard veranda and pool bath enhance the functionality of the outdoor living area. Above the porte chochere is an exercise room and new master bath extension with backyard views.
