Natural Backyard Oasis
This backyard oasis was designed with two main goals in mind. To turn a completely barren backyard hillside into a usable space and to take the eye off of the bordering homes that have windows that pour into the homeowner’s backyard. The first objective was met by designing a natural flowing pool/spa/grotto that worked with the existing elevations seamlessly so that it looked like it was a water source that had always been in the backyard. The use of the natural materials and the flow of the decking were designed to mimic some of the hiking trips the homeowner had taken in their previous home state of Arizona. You will notice there are no direct routes to the different seating areas and there is a waterway between the spa and pool in which you must splash into or walk across the rocks to get across. The second objective was met by designing the project down a few feet off of the existing patio to gain a little bit of privacy as well as adding key design elements and landscaping at points that would draw your eye to the features instead of to the homes behind the pool. The whole project was designed as one that will keep looking better as the years move forward. One of the key features on the pool that used the existing elevation of the yard is the pool edge bar in which you can sit bar side and still be close enough and eye level with those that are swimming in the pool.
