This traditional play pool is a unique, simple, and timeless backyard water shape. Initial meetings with the client led us to a very simple, straight-line design, but as the meetings went along, I could tell something wasn’t sitting well. Although the homeowners wanted to keep the pool simple and clean, they wanted something that wasn’t similar to anything else they had seen. This resulted in me throwing out the idea of using an oval. After running with the idea, the result was exactly what they were looking for. The key features in this project are the beautiful ivory travertine decks, the saw cut lueders decking, and the main feature which are two, 36” tall lueder waterwalls centered on the pool. There is also a pool bench that runs 360 degrees around the pool which was key to the homeowners entertaining lifestyle. One of the challenges we faced in this project was the roadway that runs directly behind the backyard. We solved this issue by placing a variable speed pump on the waterwall features so that the homeowner has the ability to adjust the flow of their water feature which they can turn up to be louder or turn down to create a softer feature. All together, the project fit in perfect with the home and looked like it had always been in the backyard, even though the home was built 12 years prior.
