The flagstone deck area, just off the kitchen, became a favorite socializing spot. The need for some overhead cover, shade, and fan dictated the building of this shade arbor/pergola. Cedar 2x2 slats were used and set at equi-distant spaces to cover the overhead shape as it widened towards the pool Vines were trained to travel up and across the lattice created. The stone steps appeared as a low waterfall with the design we chose.
