Plumbing PEX Upgrade

Client hired Largo Green (LG) to repair ruptured water line in condominium utility closet. Ceiling had collapsed under the water leaked pressure. Mold was pervasive. Galvanized piping was nearly 40 years old. LG removed the rusted through pipes & installed Pex tubing to upgrade the plumbing configuration.

LG struggled to unscrew the old galvanized couplings. We twisted & tugged with all our might.

LG improvised and used a rigid pvc piece to increase leverage on stubborn galvanized pipe coupling. It popped apart fairly easily once we used the extra long lever.

LG fished the new pex tubing through the multiple guide holes in 13’ of several wood rafters.

LG measured & cut the pex tubing to attach effectively to remaining galvanized piping in ceiling. We used brass fittings and ample anounts thread sealants.

LG decided to use 90 degree couplings versus bending the pex. We expanded the coupling long enough to snuggly fit over brass fittings. Used uponer expansion tool from DeWalt.
