Roomscapes Cabinetry and Design Center

South of Boston

The owners of this Massachusetts home wanted their kitchen’s style to be reflective of the adjacent outdoor kitchen, a spectacular space where they frequently entertained. While the home had great bones overall, and the kitchen was fairly spacious, the room had begun to look outdated.

Judy Whalen, design director at our South Shore kitchen and bath showroom, worked with the homeowners to create a true gourmet kitchen with a contemporary flair. The oak flooring was replaced with wide plank walnut floors. Cabinetry, appliances and accessories were also updated to reflect the new modern vibe.

At one end of the island is a teardrop-shaped eating bar made of walnut which complements the new wide plank flooring and adds warmth to the space. A light fixture from Hubbardton Forge bathes the area with an intimate glow in the evening. The new professional-grade range is punctuated with an accent panel of stainless steel, mosaic tile penny rounds which help draw the eye to the beautiful range and hood fan. The countertops are leathered quartzite in “Fantasy Brown.” The Wood-Mode cabinets, which have contemporary Shaker-style doors, are made of quarter-sawn oak and finished with an ember stain.
