Space-Savvy in Titirangi

The brief was to give our clients a kitchen that would be proportionate to the other spaces of their home. Their kitchen felt small and was hard to work in. By opening up the space we created an open plan kitchen dining sitting room environment that the family loves to congregate in. Simple clean lines with a little Japanese influence follow the theme set in the rest of the house. White and timber with black accents create a timeless look.

What used to feel like a small kitchen is now a kitchen, dining, sitting room space that suits the spaciousness of the rest of the house. The clients have spent time in Japan and loved the idea of subtly introducing some influences like the Shoji screen to the entertainment nook and lots of warm...
Less can be more!
The client loved the existing timber veneer wall and it was important that it be retained. Removing two walls opened up the space and the veneer wall is now a lovely feature backdrop to the dining area.
Dining / Sitting Room
This Sitting Room receives sunlight through high windows and the exposed timber ceiling provides a wonderful contrast to the concrete block walls. These were painted black to contrast the wood and white throughout this open plan space.
Sitting Room

Dining Area
To ensure that the size of the kitchen complimented the rest of the house we actually removed a bathroom. We kept the Powder Room and updated Fixtures & Fittings. The galley style kitchen feels large and comfortable. Its openness and lightness make it a wonderful space to be in.
