Originally a cute but small bungalow, this La Jolla Shores house is just a few blocks from the beach. The clients wanted to live in beautiful surroundings with a kitchen that would inspire them to entertain.

The new kitchen makes a compelling visual impression in its contemporary surroundings. The dynamism of the space begins with a layout that was deliberately planned to avoid placid symmetry. Part of an expansive open space, the kitchen design stands alone while also artfully integrating with the rest of the home. The earthy tones of the subtle sage tile and the warm notes of mahogany cabinetry are balanced with crisp white glass cabinet doors. Natural light is strongly emphasized in the design with a row of high windows, a skylight, and lighting placed underneath the cabinetry throughout the kitchen. Appliances are carefully streamlined in a space planned for maximum modern functionality. Once a small kitchen in a humble bungalow, this kitchen is now a stunning space communicating contemporary concepts with imagination and innovation.
