In her lively home by the beach, a young professional woman wanted to dramatically transform a downstairs bathroom connected to her guest room. It was important to the client that her space be memorable, inspiring, and out of the ordinary. The existing bathroom felt like a tunnel with a tub/shower on one side and a vanity on the other. The colors and design were bland.

The new bathroom takes it cue from tropical themes and adds dashes of industrial and vintage chic for exciting spice. The design places a large shower against the entire back wall, immediately opening the visual space. Walls of porcelain tile reminiscent of alder wood are balanced by vivid green, natural woods, and a floor of white crescent tiles with hints of greenish-yellow. The luxurious shower features a threshold with tile resembling a wood log. A vintage schoolhouse-inspired sink in teal with exposed plumbing injects the space with memorable style. Industrial-inspired lamps in sky blue illuminate the unusual recessed mirror, cut at an angle above the toilet. Evoking the spirited freedom of a vintage cabin on a tropical island, this inspiring space offers a colorful respite from the everyday.
