The client's dream for their newly purchased 1968 Streng home was to revive the Kitchen to the original mid-century aesthetic lost by a previous renovation. A wall between the Dining Room and Kitchen/Nook disconnected the space from the rest of the home and pushed the Kitchen into a narrow corner creating a dysfunctional galley that lacked workspace, storage, and flow. The goal of the new design was to open up the Kitchen and make better use of underutilized existing space in the adjoining areas.

The remodeled Kitchen meets all these needs and more by adding meticulously thoughtful storage, counter seating for their growing family and ample counter space for this relatively modest Kitchen. The new layout is open to the Dining Room and includes additional pantry storage as well as a coffee bar. While the design had to meet the functional needs of the growing family, it was also of strong importance to infuse fun and eclectic design elements that reflected their family's vibrant personality and spoke to the mid-century heart of the home.

The new Kitchen is now a place that encourages connection and serves as a gathering space while also reflecting the mid-century modern design of the rest of the home.
