This project started with the overall remodel of this 1960s ranch home. The existing yard was a typical rancher landscape with existing trees and a kidney-shaped pool. The owner desired an outdoor living room with fireplace, updated hardscape, and a colorful and lush softscape. From that vision a simple but elegant design was created to convert the outdoor environment into useful space for family entertaining and play. Traditional used brick warms up the existing walkway and entrance, and is repeated in back along with stone accents to update the pool and surrounding backyard landscape. The softscape is a mix of traditional foundation-planting for background and colorful perennials for a relaxed look that blends well with the style of this charming home.
