This project began as a blank slate in a new home development. The homeowners wanted the ultimate backyard for entertaining friends and family, as well as providing a fun hangout for their two children. This backyard has a little something to make everyone happy. A covered loggia connects the house with the outdoor kitchen and fireplace, providing a convenient place to prepare dinner and drinks while chatting with guests cozied up by the fire. The curving pool is great for kids with its shallow beach entry. Adults can relax in the spa that overlooks the vineyards and rolling hills of the Livermore Valley. The bocce ball court provides a little friendly competition, and the curving bench seat at the end offers another place to socialize and warm up by the fire pit. Finally, the “garden shed” is anything but – the homeowners use it as a place for the kids to host sleepover parties. Eventually it can be turned into an office or guest house when the kids are grown.
