This traditional house and landscape received a complete makeover to bring home a taste of Tuscany in Northern California. To work with the new architecture, we updated the front yard hardscape elements with a rustic stone entry walkway, fruitless olive trees, and a colorful planting. The backyard includes a custom-designed gate, classic Italian fountain and vanishing-edge pool overlooking the gorgeous valley below. We designed a rustic, heavy-beam pergola for the outdoor living room to complement the existing pool, BBQ, and firepit. The hillside received attention as well, with a new walkway of stone slab steps and a low-water-use meadow planting.
