Galley Sink

Client fell in love with the functionality of the Galley sink and needed help in how the Galley sink can fit in with her kitchen that was soon to be remodeled. The client also wanted a cook top and double oven - we needed to find space for that. I provided the design layout and another company provided the cabinetry.

This is the Galley Sink the Client HAD TO HAVE! This is a 48" wide sink. It was challenging to fit this sink in a small island. We positioned the island to be by the fixed support post that could not move. purelee photography

This is the AFTER view looking into the kitchen from the dining room. The challenge was making sure the cabinets, when increased in height to finish to the ceiling, cleared the existing sky lights. More lights were added - note the recessed ceiling lights. purelee photography

Removing the pantry closet opened up the kitchen into the dining room. The client wanted to have space to expand the dining table for large gatherings. Removing the wall provided the needed space. purelee photography

Client wanted to open the kitchen up to the dining room. I suggested we remove the pantry closet (seen in photo) and remove the wall between kitchen and dining room.

This is a closer view of the wall where the cooking element is. We relocated the fridge to the other wall to make the hood center of attention and to find room for the double ovens that client wanted. Bringing cabinets to the ceiling added a more finished look. purelee photography

This is the before picture showing the existing location of the fridge. We replaced that with double ovens. The shorter height cabinets, albeit builder standard, makes the space look "cheap."

This "after" picture shows where the pantry was, removing that and providing the client with a tall pantry cabinet with interior roll out trays offered more functional storage. purelee photography

Close up of the pantry closet that was removed. We relocated the fridge to this area and replaced pantry closet with a tall pantry cabinet with functional roll out trays.

This is the "after" view from the new island location. When we removed the peninsula we had room to provide landing area to the right of the fridge. purelee photography

This peninsula was not functional for the client. We removed it and added an island that accommodated the Galley Sink the Client wanted.

Extended the usable space of the kitchen by adding more cabinets down the wall on the right which extends into the breakfast nook area. The window was lower so we designed base cabinets to be lower and also shallower so we could make sure the aisle space was not confining

There was a lot of wasted space beyond the kitchen - on the wall on the right. The aisle way between the peninsula and the cabinets left of the fridge was rather tight
