2013 Lancaster Kitchen 1
While the homeowners liked the overall lay-out of their kitchen and the idea of white cabinetry, their cabinets were worn, of poor quality and lacked some of the features they desired. We replaced the existing cabinetry with high-quality, all wood painted cabinets. With this change we added a decorative chimney hood, relocated glass front cabinets to suit the clients’ needs, added a farmhouse sink and relocated the microwave to a more convenient location in the island. We enlarged the island and used stained cherry cabinetry to bring warmth and contrast to the white perimeter cabinets. Glass front island cabinets allow for additional display space while legs give weight and aesthetic appeal to the piece, built to look like a piece of furniture rather than just cabinetry. Paneled ends on both the perimeter and island cabinetry adds dimension. The same color quartz was used on the perimeter cabinets as well as the island to unify the room. A glass tile backsplash, highlighted by natural slate behind the cooktop and chimney hood, add in the subtle colors of nature, making this kitchen the serene center of the home.
