2013 Maryland Kitchen
These young homeowners purchased their house with the intent of renovating the entire home for their family. They were looking for an open concept first floor and to achieve that removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room as well as all wall cabinets except those against one wall. Abundant storage was added through large-drawered base cabinets. Inserts in the drawers aid with organization. The cabinets, painted white to reflect the light from the wall of windows, are accented by the black island with an artistic rub-through finish. To keep with the theme of drawers we installed a drawer microwave, seamlessly integrated into the cabinetry and at a convenient height for all users. Lots of entertaining and a growing family dictated two dishwashers in this kitchen, as well as a double oven and wine cooler. Granite counters, with their veining and movement, were a beautiful accent to the timeless ceramic subway tile. Recessed lights provide abundant light for all tasks and dining at the two raised bar areas. The homeowners realized the open, bright, airy kitchen that will be the hub of their home for years to come.
