This Bedford home's original kitchen was cramped by an exterior door and large windows on one wall. There was very little counter space or storage and no room for an island because of the door swing. The contractor removed the door and installed shorter windows to permit installation of a U-shaped kitchen with a long run of cabinets on the right-hand wall and a substantial island with a dramatic circular eating area at one end. Fabuwood Galaxy Frost cabinets bring brightness to the kitchen, taking advantage of the high ceilings with 42" tall wall cabinets topped with crown molding. The "uh-oh" moment came when the countertop slab the homeowners had originally chosen did not survive cutting; the Himalayan White granite they chose instead is an elegant alternative. Brushed nickel hardware echoes the stainless steel appliances and lends some sparkle to the white cabinetry. The homeowners are cooking up a storm in their new kitchen.
