Bluestone Ribbon - Redmond

Our client moved into this beautiful home, but it had a completely unfinished landscape. With two small children, gravel and weeds did not work well as play spaces and the driveway was also unfinished.

The concept for this project began with the idea of a four-foot-wide bluestone ribbon that would frame a large paver patio and then work its way up several short sets of stairs, through walls and around the house to outlet at the driveway as an entry to the backyard.

The main patio and hot tub patio were built using porcelain pavers that contrast nicely with the darker bluestone. A louvered cover was added for the hot tub, so that rain can be kept out, but sunshine can be let in as desired. A full planting of all of the new beds softens the hardscape and settles the house into the landscape.

A new island in the driveway features up lit evergreens that match the home's PNW aesthetic. The entire driveway was graded out and paved, and a pad was put in place for a future shed that will match the home's design.

Ecoturf - a blend of grasses and clover - was seeded for the sloped and flat part of the lawn. This minimizes the need for irrigation and the amount of mowing, though irrigation was revised and installed throughout all planting beds and lawn.
