Design work began on this project while the former home was still on this challenging lot. A steep slope with a finite amount of space presented a design challenge for the front entry, which the homeowner wanted to curve up to the entry porch. Urban Oasis solved this challenge with three-tiered retaining walls complete with integrated low voltage lights and a colorful planting plan that would take the Southern exposure.

In the backyard, grade and impervious surface limitations presented additional complexities for the design. Using permeable pavers for the driveway, all codes were met and a clean, contemporary look was achieved.

Aside from creating a nice street presence and easy access to the front door and garage, the homeowner wanted to incorporate as much yard for their dogs as possible while adding beds for edible plants as well as ornamental plants for color and texture.

Construction was completed in two phases, coordinated with the construction of the house. The result is a clean, contemporary landscape in keeping with this modern Craftman home.
