As with most urban backyards, the space here was limited and also challenging due to a large, centrally located tree and some tricky grades. Our clients prioritized outdoor living, ample parking and privacy for this completely remodeled backyard.

The kitchen was designed as the hub of this space with ample room for bar seating and appliance including a kegerator. The space also leaves room for a dining table and comfortable furniture.

The louvered structure allows light into the space and also keeps rain out depending on the homeowners' needs. It was designed so that the windows look out underneath the structure instead of straight at it.

Privacy from the alley and side yard neighbors was carefully designed using trees, large shrubs and fencing. This fencing also creates separation between the new concrete parking area and the entertaining space.

Not pictured is a storage shed that was carefully designed into some less used spaces around the house. The design allows this storage area to appear like part of the original home.

The end result is a three to four season space that our clients can enjoy for years to come with little maintenance.
