This young family recently moved to Connecticut and bought a beautiful Colonial home built in the early 1950's. While the home was in very good shape and had many updates, the new homeowners weren't in love with the wood cabinetry of the kitchen or the dark, brown backsplash. They came to Kitchen + Bath Design + Construction looking for something light, bright and fresh, that would grow with their family and be more in keeping with their tastes and lifestyle. They also thought that they would need to move a powder room in order to meet their wishlist. After careful consideration and planning we reconfigured the kitchen and were able to keep the powder room in it's existing location. We also lightened up the space and gave them satin white cabinetry with a white honed marble mosaic backsplash combined with "Cambrian Black" Brushed granite countertops with a pencil edge. The resulting black and white kitchen is the perfect canvas for adding pops of color like the homeowner's red stools and cookware.
