The oldest and most historically significant house in Schuylkill Township, Chester County PA, Anderson Place was home to Captain Isaac Anderson, who fought alongside Washington at Valley Forge. The original manor house had been built by his grandfather in 1713 and the Captain added a significant addition in 1804. Archer & Buchanan Architecture, Ltd. along with Griffiths Construction Inc. worked closely with the Schuylkill Township Historical Commission to obtain the necessary approvals for renovation of the entire house and construction of two additions. Antique and salvaged materials were used throughout, and new windows, millwork, stone, roof, and wood flooring were matched with existing to celebrate the unique architectural aspects of the landmark house and property.

The renovation work involved structural stabilization; re-pointing of the original stone exterior; renovating the kitchen, sitting room, study, master suite and bathrooms; refinishing existing oak floors; inserting new dormers to bring light into the third floor; and completely new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The addition to the main house contains a three-car Garage, Mudroom, Laundry with a Bedroom Suite above. A second addition to an out-building has become a pool house and recreation space, complimenting a new swimming pool. The final piece of the work involved restoring a centuries-old spring house buried in the side of the hill.
