Arts & Crafts Inspired Residence

Located on a plateau within a 100-year-old landscape, this new Arts & Crafts-inspired residence overlooks acres of undisturbed meadow. The five-bedroom home and attached cottage are draped in red English clay roof tiles and clad in European-style pebble-dash stucco. Quarter-sawn oak, leaded glass, Kasota stone and mahogany detailing enhance the trim and windows. This epic house is the work of many of the region’s most talented artisans and craftsmen, from the woodwork and glass to the paint and ironwork.

The program called for a home that would embody care and craft at every level for a family of six and grandparents. The materials selected are natural, largely handmade and detailed with the goal that they weather gracefully in the tradition of great country houses. Millwork, art-glass, plaster, tile and masonry are all drawn from local craftspeople with a collaborative design approach that drew out the best each had to offer.
