Fourth Hole Farm Barn

Located alongside the Sunnybrook golf course in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill, the old farm was overgrown with two structures in a state of deterioration. The existing farm house right on the busy road was carefully taken apart and materials salvaged for the adaptation of the bank barn into a pool house, guest house, gym and extended family party barn. Additional timbers, flooring and siding were reclaimed from barns throughout Pennsylvania. Mechanical and audio visual components were hidden within the timbers to make this a completely high tech entertainment space but very much in keeping with the integrity of the original barn. An 8,000 square foot family home was built adjacent to the barn, taking material and visual cues from the original structures but asserting a more formal architecture in contrast.
