Casa Moore
This beach-style surf house, originally built in the 60-ies, went through several additions (both vertical and horizontal) and transformations over the past decades, until monster hurricane Maria made its own mark. The owners decided it was time to do yet another transformation; this time eliminating all vulnerable wooden additions, and turning the 3-story structure into a comfortable family residence built fully in concrete.
Exterior stairs were eliminated and two new interior stairwells with "floating" stairs were added to vertically interconnect all 3 levels and to bring light to the central section of the house.
Front and rear walls of the upper level were angled to maximize experience from views at sunrise and sunset. Upper floor was designed with an open and convertible layout, housing generous master suite, and open loft. New concrete decks were added to both front and rear facades, again angled towards the best views.
