4Rooms est une transformation de duplex en maison unifamiliale pour une famille sur le Plateau Mont-Royal. Le défi du projet est d’aménager quatre chambres à l’étage pour accueillir ses occupants dans un bâtiment de 20′ de large. Le rez-de-chaussée est libéré de toutes ses cloisons par un ensemble de poutres et de colonnes exposées en PSL pour créer une grande aire de vie claire et colorée comprenant cuisine, salle à manger, salon et espace piano. La cour extérieure est aménagée en continuité à ce grand espace chaleureux par le percement de grandes ouvertures intégrées à la nouvelle façade arrière. La façade avant, quant à elle, conserve ses caractéristiques d’origine. À l’étage, les espaces comportent une atmosphère douce et intime. Chambres, espace bureau et salle de bain bénéficient tous d’un éclairage naturel abondant dans une configuration généreuse et fonctionnelle.

4Rooms is a conversion of a duplex into a single family home on the Plateau Mont-Royal. The project’s challenge was to create four bright spacious bedrooms on the second floor within the narrow 20′ building width. The ground floor saw the replacement of bearing walls by an exposed engineered wood structure of beams and columns to create a wide open bright and colorful space tha includes the kitchen, dining area, living area and piano corner. New large windows in the rear wall allow for a continuity between the open interior and the back yard spaces. The front facade retains the original elements but with new energy efficient windows and doors. The second floor was reworked to provide bright yet intimate private spaces including four bedrooms with large closets two bathrooms, office area, a walk-in closet and skylights.
