La maison se situe sur un plateau naturel ensoleillé, protégé des grands vents et ayant des vues magnifiques sur les Monts Sutton et Echo. L’aménagement de la maison s'intègre en harmonie avec son terrain, s’ouvrant à la nature sur tous ses côtés par le biais de grandes surfaces vitrées et de terrasses ouvertes sur les espaces de vie et sur la forêt. Un long toit abrite la maison, ses grands débords agissant comme brise-soleil et créant des espaces extérieurs protégés, le tout porté par une structure en bois laminé. Les deux grandes terrasses sud et est, près du sol naturel, constituent les principaux espaces extérieurs faisant lien avec le terrain tout en étant exposées au soleil. Une véranda avec moustiquaire est stratégiquement positionnée pour éviter de bloquer les vues importantes et permettre de profiter de la nature à l’abri. Les pièces de vie principales sont aménagées à aire ouverte sous un plafond cathédrale montant jusqu’à 12 pieds de hauteur, tandis que des espaces intimes tel qu’un coin foyer modulent l’espace entre les volumes plus hauts. La construction vise une certification Novoclimat et intègre entre autres des planchers radiants alimentés par un système de chauffage géothermique. Ce projet a été réalisé en collaboration avec les ingénieurs Calculatec et avec l’entrepreneur Construction Boivin.

This house is set on a sunny natural plateau, sheltered from the wind and enjoys magnificent views of Mounts Sutton and Echo. The layout of the house integrates harmoniously with the surrounding forest, opening to nature on all sides through large expanses of glass and terraces that connect the living spaces to the forest. A long roof shelters the house, its deep eaves acting as a sunshade and defining protected outside spaces, carried on a post and beam structure of laminated timbers. The large South and East terraces, close to ground level, bring the house into contact with its site and enjoy lots of sunshine. A screen porch is strategically placed to avoid blocking the primary views and provides sheltered access to the forest. The main living spaces are arranged in an open layout under a cathedral ceiling that reaches 12 feet in height, yet more intimate spaces such as the fireplace alcove modulate the spaces between the higher volumes. The construction will achieve Novoclimat certification and integrates among other things a radiant floor fed by a geothermal heating system. This project was completed in collaboration with engineers Calculatec and with general contractor Construction Boivin.
