Les rénovations à ce triplex de 2 étages transforment le bâtiment en résidence « bi-générationnelle » abritant un grand logement sur deux niveaux pour une famille et un appartement à l’étage pour un parent. L’aménagement est redéfini pour permettre de créer un rez-de-chaussée à aire ouverte dont les différents espaces sont articulés par la structure exposée et par l’escalier ajouré central. Hormis l’espace important occupé par l’aire ouverte, comprenant salon, cuisine et salle à manger, le réaménagement permet l’amélioration du vestibule d’entrée, l’intégration d’une salle télévision, d’une salle de bain et d’une buanderie. Une grande baie vitrée, de nouvelles fenêtres percées dans le mur arrière et le puits de lumière au-dessus de l’escalier amènent beaucoup de lumière naturelle au centre de l’espace. L’ancien 5 ½ de l’étage est réaménagé de sorte à fournir 3 chambres avec beaucoup de rangement, un bureau et une grande salle de bain. Le projet intègre également des stratégies durables telles que l’isolation des murs extérieurs, l’installation d’un système de chauffage géothermique, d’un ventilateur récupérateur de chaleur, d’appareils à faible consommation d’eau et d’une toiture blanche. Ce projet a été réalisé en collaboration avec les ingénieurs Calculatec et avec l’entrepreneur Les Entreprises G3F.

The renovations to this two-storey triplex transformed it into a bi-generational home, with a large two-storey home for a family and a separate apartment on the 2nd floor for a parent. The layout was redesigned to create a large open living space where the different functions are defined by the exposed wood structure and by the central open stair. Besides the large open living space which includes the kitchen, dining and living rooms, the redesign allowed for the enlargement of the entry vestibule and the integration of a new TV room, bathroom and laundry space. A large bank of patio doors, new windows in the rear façade and a new skylight above the stairwell bring lots of natural light into the centre of the space. The former 5 ½ on the second floor was reconfigured to provide 3 bedrooms with ample storage space, an office and a large bathroom. The project also integrates sustainable development strategies including the insulation of the exterior walls, the provision of a geothermal heating system, and the installation of a heat recovery ventilator, low-consumption appliances and a white roof. This project was completed in collaboration with engineers Calculatec and with general contractor Les Entreprises G3F.
