Strata est un projet d’agrandissement intérieur planifiant la transformation d’un vide sanitaire en sous-sol habitable. Le vide sanitaire est une cause importante de problèmes quant à la qualité de l’air pour le reste du RDC et concernant des déficiences structurales du bâtiment de 3 étages comprenant deux logements locatifs. Ces problèmes menent à l’établissement d’un programme de sous-sol répondant aux contraintes tout en permettant l’amélioration, entre autre, au drainage et imperméabilisation des murs de fondation, à l’isolation et au contrôle de l’humidité du sous-sol, à l’intégration d’un VRC et principalement à l’ajout d’espace de vie comprenant 2 chambres, salle de jeux / salle familiale et autres fonctions de services. Les interventions planifiées expriment les différentes couches bâties du bâtiment exposant notamment la brique des murs mitoyens, la charpente de bois du plancher de RDC, les nouvelles poutre d’acier, les moellons de pierre des fondations d’origine désormais supporter par nos nouvelles fondations de béton exposé.

Strata is an interior expansion project planning the transformation of a crawl space into an habitable basement. The crawl space is an important cause of air quality problems for the rest of the ground floor and structural deficiencies for the 3-storey building. These problems led us to establish a program that met the constraints while allowing the improvement of drainage and waterproofing of the foundation walls, insulation and humidity control of the basement, integration of an HRV unit and allow the addition of living spaces including 2 bedrooms, game room / family room and other services. These interventions express the different built layers including exposed brick walls, wood structure of the ground floor, new steel beams, stones of the original foundations now supported by our new exposed concrete foundations.
