La lanterne est projet d’agrandissement d’une maison split-level située à Saint-Lambert. Une chambre supplémentaire était requise pour accueillir confortablement la famille nouvellement agrandie. La rénovation complète du rez-de-jardin a permis d’ajouter cette chambre supplémentaire tout en aménageant une buanderie et un espace d’entreposage. L’ajout à l’arrière de la maison a permis d’agrandir la salle familiale existante et de bonifier sa connexion à la cour en y ajoutant une fenestration abondante. L’escalier entre les différents niveaux a été décloisonné pour améliorer la relation entre les différents niveaux de la maison. Au rez-de-chaussée, la chambre principale a été déplacée dans l’agrandissement pour offrir aux parents un lieu surplombant la cour et rempli de lumière naturelle. Lors de la démolition, la brique existante de la maison a été récupérée et réinstallée sur l’agrandissement pour bonifier l’intégration de l’ajout à la maison existante.
The Lantern is an extension project for a split-level house located in Saint-Lambert. An additional bedroom was required to comfortably accommodate the newly expanded family. The complete renovation of the garden level allowed for the addition of this extra bedroom while creating a laundry room and storage space. The addition at the back of the house enlarged the existing family room and improved its connection to the yard by adding abundant windows. The staircase between the different levels was opened to improve the connection between the different levels of the house. On the first floor, the primary bedroom was moved into the extension to offer the parents a place overlooking the courtyard filled with natural light. During the demolition, the existing brick of the house was salvaged and reinstalled on the addition to enhance the integration of the addition to the existing house.
