Backyard Enjoyment on Three Levels

This yard sloped severely toward the back, so Betz devised a plan on three levels: an elevated deck off the kitchen, six steps down to the pool level and three more steps to a sunken lounge area.
To create a large level area for the pool and patio, the pool was elevated on three sides. The pool wall along the sunken lounge area is elevated 18” providing convenient extra seating for groups. The pool coping is a generous 16” wide which is comfortable for seating and gives the pool structure a look of substance.
Another entertaining highlight is the 5.5’ x 7.5’ custom spa which features a charcoal welded in place 60 mil vinyl liner that withstands spa temperatures. Six powerful spa jets make this a favourite spot to sooth some aching muscles, or just wind down from a busy day.

The elevated deck with stairs handles two issues, the drop in elevation from the kitchen to the pool level, and the pressing need for backyard storage space. Special waterproof membranes and drains were added to ensure the storage area below the deck would remain dry and protected from weather.
