This family in Thornhill opted to make evenings and weekends more enjoyable by creating a lifestyle backyard. The focal point is a compact 12’ x 20’ custom Gunite pool. It includes a Badu swim jet for exercise, adjoining overflow spa, and perched on an elevated Owen Sound ledgerock feature wall, a sheer descent waterfall.
With the backyard being overhauled, it made sense to excavate around the house and waterproof the foundation before beginning the pool. The small side yard plus the perimeter around the backyard was landscaped with low maintenance plantings to reduce outdoor chores and leave more time for leisure activities.
When not in use, the custom 5’ 6” x 8’ overflow spa doubles as a water feature, with a glass-like sheet of water recirculating into the pool. A luxury feature of both the spa and pool is the continuously operating in-floor cleaning system which collects leaves and debris and disposes them in a deck side canister.
Perched on an elevated Owen Sound ledgerock feature wall, this 4’ sheer descent waterfall graces a small 12’ x 20’ pool which includes an adjoining overflow spa plus a Badu swim jet for exercise. One of the subtle pleasures of the adjoining lounge area is the sound of tinkling water from the sheer descent waterfall.
