The decision was made to install a 15’ x 30’ vinyl pool so they would have sufficient budget to create a fully featured backyard. The important features include an outdoor living room, dining area, poolside lounge areas and low maintenance planting beds which add colour and texture.

The entire backyard is basically low maintenance with an easy care architectural stamped concrete deck ringed by contrasting Wiarton pebble top stone coping. Special care was taken to work around the tree protection zones. Columnar species were added along the sides to enhance privacy.

The large walkout patio across the back of the home has wrought iron and glass panel railings to comply with Toronto’s 4-sided fence requirement. A wrought iron gate at the deck level secures access from the back of the garage beside pool equipment enclosure.

A sunken living room two steps down from the deck features a permanently mounted fully retractable shade umbrella. The centrepiece is a fire table which adds drama and warmth on cool evenings. The steps and adjoining pool wall provide convenient extra seating for conversation circles.
