This exquisite Gunite pool/tanning shelf/spa graces a neo classic home on Lake Ontario in Oakville. It was a Coulson Fine Homes project with design by Daniel O’Brien Landscape and landscape installation by Rolla Landscape. Betz had the honour of being chosen to build the pool and spa.

The simple clean lines of the pool’s design are evident in this overhead view which shows the configuration of the 12’ x 44.5’ pool/tanning shelf along with the 12’ x 8’ spa. The adjoining bed of lush hydrangeas adds a refreshing splash of colour and provides a counterpoint to the hardscapes.

This view of the spa shows the full width entry steps and generous seating with eight spa jets. The spa, tanning shelf and pool are all served by the automatic in-floor cleaning system which cleans and heats the pool and spa by injecting streams of warm water across the bottom.

The hallmark of good design is in the details, such as in the location of the pool equipment, which is cleverly hidden out of view beside the home. It sits on a floating concrete slab which enables the rainwater to pass through drains and nourish the roots of the massive evergreen trees.

The walkways down to the lake on each side of this property’s massive lawn are bordered by hedges and rows of trees surrounded by lush ground cover. This makes the perfect place to hide from view the extensive array of LED uplights which bathe the area with warm light.
