This is a backyard makeover for a Toronto family with older children who wanted to entertain guests in both of their age groups. The backyard walkout from the kitchen already existed with an elevated barbecue station, dining terrace and pergola. This side of the yard now occupied by the pool and patio was originally lawn.
The highlight of the backyard is the 15 x 32 vinyl pool with custom walk-in steps and underwater swim out bench at the deep end. To comply with Toronto’s fence requirements the pool area is fully enclosed with wrought iron fence. The section along the back features frosted glass panels interspersed with evergreens.
To add visual interest and keep garden debris out of the pool, a full-length feature wall clad in Wiarton tiger stripe ledgerock was added along the hedge. The matching Wiarton pebble top coping of the pool complements the clean lines of the random rectangular saw cuts in the architectural stamped concrete patio.
