Bardstown Road Kitchen
As large and open as this space was, all the appliances were originally clustered together, making it difficult for a family to use the space together. We eliminated an awkward L-shaped island and replaced it with a much longer and wider, counter height design to maximize clean-up, prep and entertaining space. Now, there is sufficient work space for the whole family.
The refrigerator wall was extended to allow for 42" Thermador integrated refrigeration columns, while also lengthening the walk-in pantry hidden being it. The bar remained in the same location, but we added more counter space by eliminating a seldom used bar sink.
The white cabinets were taken to the ceiling, but to keep them from feeling too heavy, glass door with integral lighting were added to the top tier. The gray stained hood, island and bar add warmth, while maintaining a neutral palette overall. The handmade ceramic tile on the backsplash is in keeping with the traditional look, while long chrome pulls and more contemporary light fixtures keep it fresh.
