Templeton Ave Kitchen Remodel
Maintaining the character of this 1920's Dilworth home while improving storage and upgrading the materials and finishes was important to this Charlotte couple. The overall layout remained the same, but improvements were made in the redesign to improve their daily life.
They wanted a floating hood as a focal point, but their previous one was too low, creating a forehead hazard. The new hood was set higher to prevent head bumps, while still remain effective. The beveled subway tile backsplash and floating brass and wood shelves add interest to the back wall.
The bar height peninsula was replaced with a counter height peninsula so friends and family could better converse with the cook while she was in the kitchen. This also allows more light into the kitchen from the breakfast space, and creates more useable counter space during holidays.
