Grimmersborough Lane Kitchen

We tag all the materials for which we have information so please check those before asking about material specifics. Thanks!

This kitchen serves a busy family of eight, so it was very important that we maximized the storage space for many bulk items. The layout stayed mostly the same, but we took the cabinets to the 9' high ceilings, increased the size of the pantry cabinets, and elongated the island to fit an extra stool.

The former kitchen contained a 30" electric cook top with a down draft, and a single wall oven/microwave combo that was housed a bulky, corner cabinet that interrupted the flow of the work space. We improved the appliance package by moving the new 30" wall oven and convection microwave to a cabinet beside the refrigerator to open up the corner prep space to the left of the new 36" all gas range and overhead ventilation.

Because of the large number of cabinets in this space we anchored the room by choosing a dark stain for the island. The cream paint on the perimeter cabinets keep them from feeling too heavy. Coordinating granite counters and a handmade tile backsplash in light blue and beige complete the look.

In the rear entry near the garage, we eliminated two awkward closets and created a more kid friendly drop zone with storage lockers and cubbies for backpacks, coats and shoes.
