Mountain Point Kitchen & Guest Bath Remodel

This lake front home had beautiful views, but the segregated kitchen and dining room created a cul-de-sac feeling with only one way in and one way out from the rest of the living space. The kitchen was large, but the room wasn't utilized well, so there was lots of wasted open space.

To improve the traffic flow an opening was created froth foyer to the kitchen, and a drop zone was designed for mail, purses and keys. A large cased opening in the wall separating the dining area from the living room created more open feel, while still designating each room as a separate space.

Tall pantry cabinets and floating shelves provide both functional and decorative storage to keep the kitchen feeling too heavy with cabinetry. A new window was added to allow additional light into the kitchen over the new prep sink, coffee and tea station. The long island with wide drawers provide even more accessible storage.

A rustic modern take on a neutral palette keeps this space interesting. The combination of solid, smooth textures mixed with natural wood and marble keep the space from feeling sterile.

The guest bathroom was updated to provide a larger shower and a taller vanity with better storage. Pine paneling was removed in favor of a simple chair rail. The porcelain tile floor and quartz countertop have a marble look, but without any of the special care and maintenance for easier living.
