Stately Lincoln Park Townhome

Seller has a gorgeous home in a very desirable area of Lincoln Park in Chicago. The biggest challenge was that it was too ornate and opulent while the buyers were hipper, younger and more attracted to stores like Target, West Elm, Pottery Barn and Home Goods. All bedding was swapped out, heavy accessories were removed and elements adding reflectivity were added. Target is obviously at home in a $1.2 million dollar home!

Small changes were made to add sparkle and lighten up this gorgeous room: mercury glass vase with white flowers and a mercury glass style lamp in the far corner. Silver, red, gold accents tie the room together. Elaborate flower arrangements and heavy accessories were removed.

Love that mirror? It's from Home Goods. Seller had gorgeous art but some pieces were too heavy for the space. Art books, white coral added to the dimension.

bed and makeup table changed places. White bedding (from Target!) replaced sellers gorgeous but dark bedding. The white chair is from West Elm and replaces a more traditional, ornate chair.

An elegant bath was made more elegant by swapping out the colored towels with white and adding simple art with substantial white matting to not detract from the gorgeous cabinetry, marble and design elements.

Bed was relocated to the long wall without windows. Light, contemporary bedding from Target replaces heavier, more ornate styles. We were able to keep seller's bed skirt by using blue and green patterned sheets. Lamps and shades are from Target. Nightstands, originally from Target were...

What a surprise yellow duvet and white sheets make to very traditional colonial-style furniture. A formal piece of art above the bed was replaced with matching silver mirrors and matching glass lamps from Target lend a contemporary feel to the room.
