Blackstone Basement Finish

This rustic basement finish in Wichita, Kansas transformed an unfinished lower level into a custom entertainment space with a living room, basement bar, fireplace, bathroom, two bedrooms, built-ins, hidden storage, and detailed finish carpentry.

Wichita Home Works’ in-house design team helped plan the basement layout, bar area, fireplace wall, built-in entertainment center, bedroom layout, bathroom finishes, lighting, paint colors, flooring, and custom storage features. The result is a finished basement that feels intentionally designed for relaxing, hosting, watching movies, and everyday use.

The living area features a gas fireplace with Cottonwood non-tumbled thin veneer stone, a custom Rustic Hickory mantel, matching stone details on the opposite corner and post bases, Dove Tail walls, and layered lighting with LED puck lights, mini lights, and wall sconces. A custom entertainment center, projector cabinet, and faux Rustic Hickory beam give the room a built-in theater-style feel.

The bar area adds another major focal point with Iron Ore shaker cabinetry, quartz countertops, a white apron-front sink, brick veneer with a light German smear, floating Rustic Hickory shelves, sconces, and a custom half-wall bar front. A custom Murphy door and coordinating bookcase add hidden-door character while keeping the space functional.

The bathroom includes an Iron Ore vanity, quartz countertop, penny round backsplash, custom tile shower, matte black shower drain, hexagon wall tile, black shower floor tile, niche detail, bench, and linen shelving. The basement also includes two finished bedrooms, including one with a custom reading nook, desk, shelving, and built-in storage.

This project is a strong example of a rustic basement finish near Wichita that combines in-house design, custom carpentry, stonework, brick accents, fireplace installation, bar design, bathroom remodeling, bedroom finishing, lighting, flooring, and storage into one highly personalized lower-level living space.
