Tamarac Sunroom Addition
This traditional sunroom addition in Wichita, Kansas created a bright four-season living space with large windows, sliding glass doors, vaulted ceiling details, LVP flooring, dedicated heating and cooling, and an added concrete patio for outdoor connection.
Wichita Home Works’ in-house design team helped plan the sunroom layout, window and door placement, exterior materials, interior finish direction, lighting, patio connection, and construction details so the addition would feel like a natural extension of the existing home.
The project included removing a portion of the existing patio, pouring a new foundation and sunroom floor, framing the new addition, building the roof structure, installing exterior siding, matching the roofing, adding gutters, relocating the sun tunnel, and completing the interior finish work. The sunroom was built with a 20' x 20' footprint and designed to bring in natural light from multiple directions.
The finished space features ProVia slider windows, picture windows below the sliders, triangle gable windows, two sliding glass doors, a customer-selected ceiling fan, slim LED ceiling lights, interior outlets, exterior lighting, and a dedicated Mitsubishi mini split system for heating and cooling comfort.
The exterior was finished with James Hardie cedar mill fiber cement lap siding, matching trim, fascia, soffit, asphalt shingles, eggshell gutters, and brick repair at the chimney chase. Inside, the sunroom was finished with matching Hardie materials, Paramount rigid core LVP flooring, a clear-sealed concrete step at the house entry, and trim details around the windows and doors.
The project also included a new patio add-on with a free-form radius edge, creating a better transition from the sunroom to the backyard. The result is a comfortable, light-filled sunroom addition that expands the home’s everyday living space while preserving a traditional look that fits the original house.
