This transitional home office remodel in Wichita, Kansas transformed the room with a custom walnut built-in cabinet wall designed for storage, display, work space, and everyday function.

Wichita Home Works’ in-house design team helped plan the cabinet layout, shelving proportions, desk storage, lighting placement, electrical access, stain direction, and overall built-in design so the finished office would feel polished, useful, and connected to the character of the home.

The project included removing existing baseboard as needed, cutting back flooring for the cabinet installation, and installing custom shop-built cabinetry designed specifically for the office wall. The new built-ins feature walnut face frames, walnut Shaker-style flat panel doors, prefinished UV birch plywood cabinet boxes, full-height lower cabinet doors, desk drawers, open upper shelving, adjustable shelves, arched panels, two-stage crown molding, and a 1.5-inch-thick walnut plywood desktop.

To improve function, Wichita Home Works also added brown outlets with USB charging ports inside the cabinetry and installed LED puck lights in the tops of the cabinet sections. These details make the office more practical for working, charging devices, displaying books, and using the space throughout the day.

The finished result is a warm, custom home office with a library-inspired feel, rich walnut cabinetry, built-in storage, open display shelving, integrated lighting, and a tailored work surface.
