Basement Renovation- Dollard des Ormeaux

Big space doesn’t necessary mean better space and our clients realized there were areas in their spacious split level home which were not being used effectively to meet their day to day living needs.

One half of the huge street level foyer housed a sitting area that was never used. The spacious, 70’s wall paneled basement was taking more and more the role of a storage area. The multipurpose laundry/bathroom adjoining it was too crammed to be used effectively and carting laundry up and down three levels was a chore.

First we remodeled the basement and partitioned a section with a window to create a bedroom. All wall paneling was replaced with drywall and the beautiful ceiling wood beams revealed during the demolition were refinished and stained. The carpeted staircase was stripped and capped with oak treads which were stained to match the dark laminate flooring throughout.
The bathroom was completely remodeled with a new layout. All plumbing was relocated to accommodate a new shower and the washer and dryer were removed. The unsightly hot water tank was replaced and partitioned behind folding doors. Now the room looked like a bathroom.
The street level foyer was also stripped of all wall paneling and drywalled. One half was maintained as a foyer with laminate flooring. The back half was partitioned into a new laundry and pantry area with ceramic flooring. The washer and dryer were relocated there and a utility sink was installed providing our clients with an easier accessible laundry room and tons of pantry space.

Do you have areas in your house that would be better used in a different way? We can help!
